What is the rarest color Axolotl in Minecraft? ›

Blue axolotls are the rarest type of axolotl in Minecraft. Like other axolotls, they do not spawn naturally. The only way to obtain blue axolotl is by breeding two axolotls. There is a 0.083% (1/1200) chance of spawning blue axolotl when two axolotls are bred.

Axolotls in Minecraft need to be in water at least two blocks deep within 16 blocks of a path of water to survive. Being out of water for more than five minutes will kill them. Axolotls can also be killed when they're out of water and passengers in a boat.

If 2-block-deep water is outside this range, the axolotl can wander off randomly on land in search of more deep water, and die after 6000 game ticks (5 minutes) exposure out of water.

The blue axolotl is by far the rarest colour and has a 0.083% chance of spawning, either naturally or via the breeding of adults with other colours.
