A team of psychology seniors — Abby Abraham, Britta Kleitsch, Karissa Nunez and Samantha Silva — partnered with University Personnel’s Lisa Gray to publish research on the restorative benefits of nature. Their project aims to spread knowledge of how biophilic design, an architectural approach to connect building occupants more closely to nature, and natural landscapes relieve directed-attentional fatigue, or DAF, improving employee wellbeing and productivity. Their research was completed during the winter and spring quarters, supervised by psychology Professor Shawn Burn. Read their findings: tinyurl.com/mpdv5cak

Congratulations to Mustangs Araceli Aronin (biomedical engineering major, Spanish minor) and Andrea Valle (communication studies major, sales and Spanish minors) for their first place win at Legados - San Luis Obispo 2024! This year's fiercely competitive event welcomed students from Cal Poly and Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior (CETYS) University to explore the theme of agricultural sustainability. Participants were tasked with identifying the primary barriers obstructing the adoption of sustainable and restorative agriculture in California and proposing actionable measures for governmental bodies at different levels, while also contemplating the role Mexico should undertake in tackling these challenges. The innovative case presented by Aronin and Valle proposed an educational campaign in schools leveraging partnerships with emerging social media influencers, showcasing both creativity and practicality.
